Abducted, Maybe/ My World

An Alien?

This was NOT a Halloween costume. This was for real!  He landed here a short while before I shot this photo and was about to take off again. And he was taking earthlings with him.

Up, up, and away

Where were they going? They were climbing to 13,500 feet above the earth so they could...

Coming back down

float back down. My husband and I were in Baldwin, Ontario on Saturday at the Toronto Parachute School.

The photographer in the first photo was taking videos and stills of jumpers as they fell to the ground. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Ah, well, actually...my feet stayed firmly planted on the ground. My husband, my camera and I were spectators. I interviewed two newbie sky divers who had just sky dived for the first time, tandem as in the third photo, each with an experienced sky diver.  The male was exhilarated and could hardly wait to learn to sky dive solo. The female? She wasn't sure she ever wanted to sky dive again.

If God wanted me to fly, He would have made me an angel.

Great captures, Carver!
I've always dreamt of jumping out of a plane like that :)

Have a great day!

No way, no how, am I ever doing that. I don't even like to watch other people do it.

That first shot does look like an alien tho.

I'm with B Squared, except for the angel part. i think She would have made me a bird!

Or maybe just plain crazy.

Actually, I admire these folks who come floating down from the sky. I just don't want to be one of them.

I'm breaking out in a cold sweat just thinking about this.

Well, it does look like fun!

How fun! I think I could do that. :0)

I'm with you...I have never had any desire to skydive. But I did do a simulated parachute-floating sensation at a wind tunnel "ride" or should I say "experience" in Orlando, Florida. Fans blow air upward at 150+ mph and you wear a loose-fitting jumpsuit over your clothes, you step into the circular wind tunnel and you "fly." That was fun, as I was never more than 5 feet above the netting!

Hmmm... no, you aren't getting away with it. Next time I'm sure there will be photos from above EG!

I love these - the rigged up outfit and the descriptions of post-landing are great!

My husband used to be that first person... Love the shot of him - he does look like an alien.

As for me - no way, thanks.

What terrific shots! I love them! Always wanted to do that, but not sure I ever had the courage -- certainly not these days!!! What a fun, delightful post for the day -- as always!

Despite a touch of vertigo, this really is something I've wanted to do for some time! Maybe I ought to come there to skydive and have this wonderful character you captured capture me on the way down! :-D Did you by any chance ask what the cost was to do a tandem jump, EG?

EG CameraGirl said...

Francisca,
I did ask. $300.

sounds like fun - for someone else. i'd rather be taking photos with my feet planted firmly on terra firma, just like you.

have a lovely week.

Living near the U.S. Air Force Academy, I see lots of skydivers and know plenty of people who've done it. And I know it's not for me.

I think this looks really cool, but I just couldn't do it.

that guy really looks scary. It is good to know what he is about. :)
I would like to try it, but I know I would never dare.

Hahaha! LOVE that first photo. As for skydiving, "no thank-you!" I'd much rather watch from the ground.

You should have had your "feet stayed firmly planted on the ground" after the jump...haha! Just kidding.
But seriously, sounds like a lot of fun!
Great pictures.:)

Great photos. I don't understand jumping out of perfectly functioning airplanes.

I'm with the lady, skydiving and/or parachuting is one thing that I really don't fancy trying, but in a strange way i wish I was brave enough to try it.
But i'm not.
Definitely.
No doubt about it.

Yes, the first photo is hilarious. An alien, indeed.
Skydiving is alien to me, although sometimes I think it would be, theoretically, interesting to be spectators as you were...
Nope. I actually think I'm glad it was you, and not me.
Some great shots there, thank you for doing it for us.

Great photos. It is typical of a man to rush in!

I think I just might be a tad hesitant to try this. Better my feet and my camera are on the ground too :)

Wonderful captures! Love the alien first shot...and the colorful third shot. Watching would be exciting enough for me also.

I love that first picture, but I am glad you and your camera stayed firmly on the ground where you got these wonderful pictures.

What a great photo! Love his facial expression, and you captured it well! You gave me a big laugh, without your description, I though he was in costume, hehehehe!

Great post! The photos are excellent. I always find skydivers to be brave people! I wouldn't try it for a million.
Thanks for your visit and comment. These books are not used in school anymore. Kids prefer Harry Potter now.

What a great fun experience, especially from ground level.
The first shot is a is worthy of Nat. Geographic with the smile on the photographer's face lit up from within.

I like to watch people fly around in the sky, but, not me...I'm firmly planted on the ground. That's why I wear shoes so my feet won't get dirty!
