Mourningcloak/Sunday Best

Mourningcloak on butterfly bush

Butterfly bush (Buddleia) is aptly named as the blossoms attract many butterflies.
Mourningcloak wings opened out

I especially look forward to seeing mourningcloaks on the Buddleia - their colours go together very well, don't you agree?

It isn't just the color that is fascinating in this butterfly, EG, it is the texture.

I haven't heard of this butterfly. It is beautiful. It almost looks like lace on the edge of the wings.

No Mourning Cloaks on this side of the big pond. Plenty of Buddleia though which attract all species of butterfly. That's a beautiful picture.

Okay, is it "mourbingcloak" or "mourningcloak"? ;-)

I doubt I've ever seen one of these. Love that first shot especially...looks like the wings are made of seashell material.

As they keep flying, it is very challenging to photograph butterflies.

You have done a very good job.
